Gracefully Hawaiian

Grace's thoughts on Hawaii . . .

January 25, 2004

Airports are ok, but you have to sit still alot in airplanes! I was a very good girl and made many friends with the other passengers and flight attendants. We made our condo at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu a fun place to explore. I like that the balcony has a railing I can see through (even though I am only 28.5" tall)!

Wow is Hawaii colorful! In just a half hour walk this morning after breakfast I saw neat flowers, tropical birds (parrots, ducks, flamingos) and pretty fish (koi).

Mommy and daddy took me to the beach and I walked in the sand and touched the ocean for the first time.

This afternoon, mommy came home from work early and we met a friendly penguin named Icarus.

The pool was very cold at first, brrrrrrr, but we had fun anyway.

At dinner I heard traditional Hawaiian music and helped mommy and daddy toast "to a great day!"

Today I had breakfast in a cafe with mommy and daddy and this nice waiter who told mommy a very long story about his evil sister in Connecticut who won't give him any of his dead mommy's money. I guess she hasn't learned to share yet...

After nap-time and lunch, daddy and I went to the beach and played in the sand.

Daddy said we saw pretty flamingos, but I didn't see any!

Before dinner we played Tupperware and beach toys on the floor of the condo.

After dinner I took a stroller ride to the International Marketplace where many people were selling the same things. Mommy and daddy gave me animal crackers while they ate ice cream and tried to hide it from me; no fair!!

Daddy and I walked around the Ala Moana Mall this morning and all I got were some diapers.

Mommy, daddy and I had a nice dinner together.

Thursday January 29, 2004

Today I went to work with mommy for a little while this morning and met many nice people.

Then daddy and I went to the zoo.

I saw African wild dogs.

My favorite was the children's zoo.

Doggy?

Nice doggy.

This is more my speed!

The elephants tossed sand all around. They were very big!

But I found one that was just my size!

After lunch, daddy and I walked around the beach and then went swimming in the ocean and the swimming pool. I'm still a little afraid of the water, but I sure look cute in my ducky robe!

Friday January 30, 2004

Daddy and I just hung out today. Sometimes it rained (a good time for a nap), but who says you have to play with pool toys just in the pool?

Saturday January 31, 2004

We are flying home today on the big airplane, but we had time in the morning to visit the beach one last time.

It has been fun to be in Hawaii together. I like doing new things and meeting lots of nice people in these new places.

The world is so big, but not so big!

Love,
Grace
